Java Kai Coffee Delivery App

Project

The goal of this project was to create a clean, intuitive delivery app interface for Java Kai, a local coffee shop in Kauai that I used to work at as a teenager. The challenge was to capture the laid-back charm of the brand while ensuring the user experience was seamless and efficient since they don’t have an app, just an older website. From ordering lattes to scheduling pickups, every screen needed to feel natural, on-brand, and mobile-friendly, offering both locals and tourists an effortless way to enjoy their favorite brews from Java Kai.

The Why

Drawing inspiration from the shop’s roots, I infused the UI with pink tones, hand-drawn accents, and playful typography that reflects the spirit of Kauai. I focused on making the app feel inviting yet functional, highlighting menu items with bold text and building a simple, scrollable layout that puts simplicity first. Thoughtful interactions like order progress trackers and one-touch reordering made the experience smoother, while small design details added personality without compromising usability. This project was all about bringing Java Kai’s unique vibe into the digital space while keeping user convenience at the core.
